William Petruck - President, Project Manager

Mr. Petruck has compiled a successful track record in fund raising consulting, communications, strategic planning and marketing management raising more than $100 Million for clients.

Mr. Petruck, President of FUNDING matters Inc., is considered an authority the field. He presents and conducts workshops for the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and lectures throughout North America on fundraising trends and innovations. FUNDING matters Inc. proprietary tools such as FM-IQ™, FmI Logistix™ and Giftabulator™ continue to give FUNDING matters Inc. and its clients an advantage over conventional approaches to fundraising.

Prior to founding FUNDING matters Inc. in 1997, Mr. Petruck was Associate Director of the National Campaign for York University , Mr. Petruck shaped and implemented a fund raising program that secured $65 million from private sources and $60 million from various governmental initiatives surpassing the campaign's $100 million goal. Mr. Petruck was responsible for successfully directing the Corporate, Faculty/Staff, York Business Alliance, Faculty of Pure and Applied Science, York Centre for Applied Sustainability and Telemail initiatives within the campaign.

As a fund raising consultant for a major national consultancy, Mr. Petruck directed campaigns for The Corporate Fund for Breast Cancer Research ($45 million), Trinity Anglican Church, Aurora ($3 million), The YMCA of Greater Toronto ($40 million). He also conducted feasibility studies for St. Francis Xavier University , Canadian Diabetes Association, The National Gallery, The Stratford Festival, Care West, Sheridan College as well as the campaigns in which he directed.

Prior to joining the consultancy, Mr. Petruck was Director of Corporate Development for a major national political party. He was responsible for the planning and execution of activities targeting corporate and individual support. Mr. Petruck also developed sponsorship programs and innovative special events, which raised the level of awareness of the fund raising programs and provided significant financial support to the party.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto and a Graduate Certificate in International Business from Humber College .

 

Laura Oda - Senior Campaign Director

Laura Oda has been with FmI for over 5 years and has an impressive record as a senior executive in the profit and not for profit sectors. Ms. Oda established herself as a strong fundraiser with her outstanding work with the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre. From 1997 to the year 2000, she was responsible for the planning and execution of short and long term fund raising strategies for the JCCC, including the $13 million Building Together Campaign, one of the country's largest and most successful culture center appeals to date. Ms. Oda also has significant success in raising the Centre's profile internationally, in the development of member programming, and in the planning and implementation of community and government relations.

Ms. Oda is now working on the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre's Home with a Heart Campaign, a $15 million initiative to establish a secure unit for residents with behavioural management challenges, expand dining facilities, renovate and rejuvenate the building systems and establish an endowment fund. In the education sector Ms. Oda worked on the Ryerson IS Retail Ready Campaign, a $10 million initiative to establish the only degree granting, retail management program in the country and has consulted to the Toronto Foundation for Student Success on its annual program.

Other clients Ms. Oda has consulted to while at FmI include the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, The Liver Foundation of Canada, The Kidney Foundation of Central Ontario, The Aphasia Institute, and Variety - The Children's Charity.

As a development and strategic planning professional Ms. Oda consulted to local as well as national organizations in areas such as the Ontario Non-Profit Housing Association, the Ontario Association of Occupational Therapists and the Momiji Seniors Centre on such topics as Board Development, Strategic Planning and database needs analysis.

Ms. Oda was the Director of Training and Development from 1987 - 1992 at the Canadian Centre for Philanthropy and from 1992 to 1994 the Centre's Director of Operations. Ms. Oda led the Centre through a major restructuring and focused its activities to better meet the needs of the market. Ms. Oda began her professional career at Bell Northern Research and then joined Trigon Technologies Inc. where she held a series of senior positions, culminating as Director of Administration and Accounting from 1984 to 1987.

Ms. Oda has been active in a variety of community and civic activities, including Consul General of Japan's Access Japan committee (1999-2000); Japanese Children's Museum Board member (1999-2001); Centenary Health Centre-Community Advisory Committee Member (1995-1997); Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre Board Member (1996-1998), Momiji Health Care Society (1999 to 2003), and is involved in her children's school and local community association.

Ms. Oda holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from McMaster University.

 

Rob Peacock - Senior Campaign Consulatant

Rob Peacock is a Certified Fund Raising Executive with over twenty years of fund raising experience from various philanthropic sectors.

Rob began his career as a Campaign Director with Ketchum Canada. Following this he became Executive Director of the P.C. Canada Fund. He then went on to the Mississauga Hospital Foundation as Vice President of Development. As University Associate Campaign Director, Rob coordinated the initial phase of the major gift fundraising effort for the University of Toronto’s Capital Campaign. Rob served as Vice President, Development at the Toronto Community Foundation. Rob then moved on as Executive Director of the Ryerson University Campaign. He was then appointed Chief Development Officer of the PC Ontario Fund and most recently was Vice-President (Acting) at the Mount Sinai Hospital Foundation.

Rob is currently President of Metanoia Canada, a non-profit management consulting firm.

An active volunteer, Rob is Chair of the International Development Committee of the Association of Fundraising Professionals – and past Chair of the Canada Council. He recently served for four years on the Executive Committee of the Board of the Ontario Trillium Foundation (a foundation granting over $100 million per year). Rob also sits on the Board of Visitors for the Institute for Charitable Giving in the United States. He has made speaking presentations to the Association of Fundraising Professionals, the Canadian Association of Gift Planners, the Canadian Council on the Advancement in Education and the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy. He is currently on the faculty of Humber College instructing in their Fundraising and Volunteer Management Program.

Rob has completed his Masters degree in Philanthropy and Development at St. Mary’s University in Minnesota, USA and waiting to be conferred in May 2006.

Victoria Ollers - Communications Consultant

With over 20 years of communications experience on both the client and agency side, Victoria has worked with and provided communications and marketing counsel to clients in many industries. Her experience ranges from corporate, marketing, and financial communications to community relations, public affairs, media training and crisis and issues management.

 

Gustav Cho - Consultant

Mr. Cho has been with FmI since 2003. He is an invaluable member of the team as he assists FmI with various Software projects and consults on a variety of technical matters.

Mr. Cho graduated from UCLA with a BA in Math and has a MA in Economics from Duke University. He has worked as a software developer with various companies in the United States of America.

 

Wendy Tran - IT Director

Ms. Tran is a recent addition to the FmI team.  She is responsible for the management and development of the Fm-iq and Giftabulator projects. Currently she is closely involved in the coordination and development of ishare.ca , a philanthropic website with online donation.   She is also assigned in creating a customization tool for the Fm-iq project.  In addition to her duties with the administration of the FmI server and email system, Ms. Tran has on occasion met with clients and resolved technical issues relating to ongoing projects.

Wendy Tran holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Toronto.  During her studies at the university, she has acquired knowledge in many different programming languages. In being a part of the FmI team, it has enabled her to gain first hand experience on the application development processes.  In her leisure time, Ms. Tran enjoys learning the culinary arts and writing short fiction.

 

Madeline Avendano - Technology Consultant

Madeline Avendano is a new member of the FmI team. In the past 3 months since she started with the company, her efforts has been focused on the new on-line GIFTabulator project. She has also been assigned to the FM-IQ project. Her other responsibilities include the administration of FmI's company website and the maintenance of FmI's email system for their E-zine.

Ms. Avendano graduated with distinction from t

e University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. She specializes in Software Engineering and is well-versed in different programming languages, especially Java. Since joining FmI, her skills have broadened to include application development using Laszlo and experience in web hosting management.

 

Ronald Halabi - Communication Consultant

Ronald has worked with FmI for the past two years creating various promotional materials for the organization and several of their affiliates (JCCC, UCCC, ProLink, Vo2Net) focusing mostly on websites, but also creating CD-ROMs, graphic e-mails, business cards, letterhead, digital video and more.
